In fact, definition of advanced laparoscopy had considerably changed by time. When general surgery operations are considered, we were referring procedures beyond gall bladder and appendicitis operations as “advanced laparoscopy” 10 years ago, whereas colon cancers are not regarded as “advanced laparoscopy” today and morbid obesity, hepatic and pancreatic operations with higher technical challenges are assessed within class of “advanced laparoscopy”. In conclusion, those operations require allocation of additional time, additional trainings provided to whole surgery team, particularly surgeons and presence of different tools in terms of equipment within operation theatre. As knowledge and experience increase, those operations will also become routine operations.
